EMAG – Electromagnetic Inspection
MRT – Magnetic Resonance Testing
MI – Magneto-inductive Rope testing
Electromagnetic wire rope inspection is an industry standard for in-service inspection of ropes. KTL Marine Services uses the state of the art EMAG rope testing equipment to detect any abnormalities and or degradation occurred beneath the outer surface of the rope, which is not detectable by visual inspection.
We test moving and stationary cables and wire ropes:
- Hoisting cables
- Crane cables
- Cableway and cable car cables
- Bridge wire ropes
- Stay and anchoring wire ropes
- Offshore wire rope
Loss of metallic cross-sectional area (LMA)
Quantitative Characterization: external and internal corrosion including corrosion pitting, wear, broken wires, broken cores, various changes of rope structure.
Wire Rope Roughness (WRR)
Quantitative Characterization: external and internal corrosion including corrosion pitting, inter-strand nicking, broken wires (single or in clusters)
Localized flaws (LF)
Qualitative Characterization only: broken wires, corrosion pitting.
